03 Apr “Pirates” sails from the gym to your home!
Opera for the Young’s tour of The Pirates of Penzance came to an early close in March as schools across the Midwest sent students home to quarantine with their families. In the days and weeks that followed, Opera for the Young’s dedicated staff has put together a digital operatic experience for teachers to share with their students and families – an interactive Pirates performance in 8 episodes! Students can also learn more about each individual performer on the OFTY cast by watching our Watch the Artist videos, learn about character development in our Meet the Characters videos, or complete OFTY’s independent workbook, The Student Handbook. All school content is provided safely via YouTube (listed “for children”) and our website. All host schools from the 2019/20 school year have access to this content and we hope these resources will help teachers and students as they adjust to COVID19-learning.
In addition to these resources, OFTY will be offering “Watch Party Wednesdays” on Facebook: for the remainder of the school year, OFTY will broadcast our original adaptation of “The Pirates of Penzance” on Wednesdays at 2pm Central from OFTY’s Facebook page. We hope you can join us for a party!
