2007

Music by Gluck, Monteverdi & Offenbach
Libretto adaptation and stage direction
by Diane Garton Edie
Musical adaptation by Bill Lutes
Musical direction by Jeffrey Sykes

Orpheus, the mythical singer whose music has magic powers, is called upon to return to the Underworld. On this perilous journey, he is accompanied by his trusty Harp. Their mission: to use the power of song to rescue the world’s endangered species from the sinister clutches of Pluto and Persephone. Told through sparkling melody and humor, this adaptation of an age-old story illustrates the universal importance of seeking harmony among living creatures and preserving our fragile environment.
