OPERA FOR THE YOUNG WILL HOLD AUDITIONS FOR The Elixir of Love
Our Old West version of "Elixir" is a 45-minute adaptation. (Score adapted by Bill Lutes and libretto adapted by Diane Garton Edie.) Each role (S, M, T, B) will be triple cast: Soprano (“Miss Addy” – Adina), Mezzo (Dulcamara), tenor (“Jimmy Reno” - Nemorino), and baritone (“Sgt. Bill Corey” - Belcore). Cast includes three coach/accompanists.
Cast members drive the tour van, load and unload set pieces, and field audience questions. Additionally, they train student performers. There are typically two shows per day/7-10 shows per week. Compensation is $55 - $60 per show plus $28 per diem and travel/lodging while on tour. In addition, each artist receives lodging and $350 for the rehearsal period which runs for a week in early/mid-October 2016. The tour runs October 2016 to mid-May 2017 with a two month holiday break. Due to each role being triple cast, artists generally are on tour anywhere from 4-8 weeks.
